Peace on Earth

Once upon a time there were wars and fighting. Moreover, people didn't respect each other in their day-to-day lives. For example, there was a fair amount of infidelity going on between the neighbour folk. Sometimes people took things from each other's houses without asking.

Eventually people were pretty upset. They talked about the need for change. But with so many neighbour folk, and so many grudges worked up, and no one trusted anyone, nothing worked.

In the Christian Story, God sent a messenger to get the change started, by inspiring people to love their neighbours more, and share their food with those who needed food, and help each other out in their times of need. And try not to cheat and steal.

This is one of the special stories that get celebrated at this time of year. People sing songs, give gifts to family and friends, give to charity, make feasts, and generally keep the human spirit alive. We still have wars and all that. Which is why, no matter what faith or philosophical approach to life you may have, here is my wish that you take some joy in this holiday season.
