It was difficult to truly appreciate the standing stones while racing around the 1 km path that took us around the ancient rocks in a field near Cunnel. We were starting to lose daylight at the end of a long travelling day, near 7pm. It was time to head to our B&B for the night. (We never made it, and ended up getting lost and we had to stay at a different B&B south of Fort William.)
Still, we wound along the path, saw the big round collection of stones that made up a burial mound of some type, and another burial mound with large stones that had been leaned up against eachother. The standing stones stood quietly in a circle. The photo shows two of the stones in the circle. More sheep nearby ignored us. It wasn't raining now. This is the day before we arrived in Skye.
