Greg and I went to Dow's lake last weekend at my urging, to see if any tulips were up yet. Sure enough two beds of red tulips and one yellow bed were blooming. The 100 or so other beds comprised tulips in tight bud formation. I learned from a photographer there that the red tulips tend to bloom first. Given the chilly week, I'm not sure much has changed by now. If you want to see the red ones, go now. Next week they will be fading!

RED TULIP: DECLARATION OF LOVE
Come live with me, and be my love, And we will all the pleasures prove That valleys, groves, hills, and fields, Woods or steepy mountain yields.
And we will sit upon the rocks, Seeing the shepherds feed their flocks, By shallow rivers, to whose falls Melodious birds sing madrigals.
And I will make thee beds of roses, With a thousand fragrant posies, A cap of flowers, and a kirtle Embroidered all with leaves of myrtle.
A belt of straw and ivy buds, With coral clasps and amber studs: And if these pleasures may thee move, Come live with me, and be my love.
"C. Marlowe"
